Creatures is an inspiring journey through both small and large-format drawings, as well as mixed-media works. It centres on the exploration and experimentation with familiar images—icons of Western culture and everyday objects. By removing these elements from their usual contexts and juxtaposing them with other images or symbols, the project uncovers deeper meanings and reveals intriguing contradictions.
This artistic process involves altering scales and combining unexpected colours to challenge the viewer's expectations. At times, these contradictions are approached with a playful spirit, offering insightful commentary on situations without the weight of seriousness. In other instances, the contradictions themselves become a springboard for experimentation, encouraging a quest for meaning within the artwork.
