My name is Carlos Velasquez, and I am an artist from Colombia currently based in Sydney, Australia. Since 2018, I have exhibited my work in Colombia, the USA, Spain, and Australia. My artistic practice involves experimenting with drawing, video, and photography.
I believe that art involves the contemplation of how ideas originate from the subconscious and how they can evolve into shared experiences. This process retains a personal and indescribable quality, where perception becomes the core of my work. It serves as our natural instrument for translating the phenomena around us and within us.
As an artist, I feel it is essential to create a space for the audience to engage with the artwork. This interaction encourages reflection on what we perceive, how it affects us, and the connections that can be made between the artwork and each viewer.
